Relatable with Allie Beth Stuckey: Today we’re joined by Dallas Jenkins, creator and writer/director/producer of “The Chosen,” the first multi-season show on the life of Jesus. We talk about his career in filmmaking and how a career failure led to an important lesson that changed his life. He shares why he created the show and why it seems to resonate so deeply with people. Then, we discuss how much work truly goes into writing a show that uses the Bible as its source. The goal, for Dallas, is to ask, “What is biblically plausible?” as he gets insight from biblical, historical, and cultural scholars to craft the characters. We discuss criticism of the show, much of which has centered around skepticism about LDS involvement in the show’s distribution. And ultimately Dallas reminds us that while “The Chosen” is based on the Bible and the life of Jesus and his disciples, it doesn’t claim to be the Bible, as only the Bible itself is the true authority. You can watch the third season of “The Chosen” on the Chosen app.

Respectfully, focus on your faith, your relationship with God, and what you believe; and let us “Mormons” focus on our faith, our relationship with God, and what we believe. You made so many untrue statements about the doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I won’t bother to correct them all here…but here is a quote from their website “The Book of Mormon establishes clearly that “Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself to all nations” (Book of Mormon title page; 2 Nephi 26:12).”. We believe Jesus is not JUST the Son of God…but is God the Son, the only begotten son of God the Father.
Also, Dallas, no one worships the church. Like any church, you will have those that read their scriptures, actively seek God, and understand all the beliefs and doctrines of their church…and others will not. They are lazy, Sunday only worshipers. But that does not define us all. Jesus of the New Testament, the God of the Old Testament, the God of the Book of Mormon, the Savior of the world, are all one in the same. He is the one whose grace saves me.
